When God Closes a Door…
Over the years, I’ve prayed a lot of prayers—some were answered in ways that made me want to dance with joy, and others… well, they left me confused, heartbroken, and questioning everything I thought I heard from God.
One of those moments was when I felt called to step into full-time ministry with my church. I truly believed it was what God was speaking to me. My heart was all in. But door after door closed, and I found myself devastated. I thought, “God, did I hear You wrong? Why would You give me such a desire and then not open the way?”
But here’s what I’ve learned: closed doors are not rejections—they are redirections. And I’ve come to realize that closed doors in my life have never been a bad thing. They’ve always been necessary. Sometimes they’re God’s protection from what isn’t meant for me, and other times they’re a setup for something even greater on the horizon.
Looking back, I can see now that while I was asking for a specific path, God was laying the foundation for something bigger—something orchestrated by Heaven.
“‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the Lord.
‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.’”
— Isaiah 55:8–9
“What He opens no one can shut, and what He shuts no one can open.”
— Revelation 3:7
His plans are better. Always.
So today, I’m holding onto the truth that God’s “no” is never the end of the story. It’s often the beginning of something beyond anything we could ever imagine.
I don’t know what the future holds—what doors will be opened and which ones will eventually close—but I’m here for it. I’ll keep pressing in, trusting, and walking forward, knowing that God’s plans for me are good and full of purpose.
